Agreement and eligibility

By downloading or using Ming, you agree to these Terms and the Apple Standard EULA. If they conflict, Apple's terms control to the extent required for an app distributed through the App Store. If you are not old enough to enter a contract where you live, a parent or legal guardian must approve your use.

Learning service

Ming is an educational reading tool. Its lessons, meanings, readings, memory stories, scheduling, and progress estimates are learning aids, not official proficiency certification, professional translation, or academic advice.

Progress and iCloud

Ming has no separate login. Learning progress is saved on your device and, when iCloud is available for Ming, synchronized through Apple’s private CloudKit database for your Apple Account. Ming continues to work offline and while iCloud is unavailable.

Your content

You keep ownership of Personal Cards and other content you create. You give Ming and Apple permission to store, process, and synchronize that content only as needed to provide the app and iCloud features. Do not store unlawful content or information you are not permitted to use.

Memberships and purchases

Ming offers Monthly and Annual auto-renewable memberships and a one-time Lifetime purchase, all processed by Apple. The App Store shows the localized price and billing period before confirmation. A membership renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. You can manage or cancel it through Ming Settings or your Apple Account subscription settings. Lifetime does not renew.

If a membership ends, free Levels 1–5, saved Review cards, progress, and previously reached content remain available, but later paid levels require active access. Purchases belong to the Apple Account used for App Store purchases and can be restored in Ming. Resetting progress, signing out of iCloud, or deleting Ming does not cancel a membership or erase a purchase held by Apple.

Apple manages payment, renewal, cancellation, price-change notices, and refund requests under its applicable terms and policies. Ming cannot cancel an Apple subscription for you.

License and intellectual property

Ming grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control as permitted by Apple’s rules. Ming’s software, curriculum, writing, artwork, audio, branding, and interface remain protected by intellectual-property law. No ownership rights are transferred to you.

Acceptable use

Do not misuse Ming, interfere with the service, attempt unauthorized access, copy or redistribute protected app content beyond what the law permits, or use Personal Cards to store unlawful or harmful material.

Availability and changes

Ming may correct content, improve features, and change or discontinue parts of the service. Reasonable care is used, but uninterrupted operation and error-free content cannot be guaranteed. Corrections and improvements to Ming’s core paths are included with access; a substantially separate future course may be offered separately.

Warranty and liability

Ming is provided subject to the consumer guarantees and other rights that cannot legally be excluded. To the extent permitted by law, Ming is otherwise provided as available, without additional warranties, and is not liable for indirect or consequential loss. The Apple Standard EULA also sets out warranty, support, and liability terms that apply to the App Store license.

Changes to these terms

These Terms may be updated when Ming’s features, services, or legal obligations change. The date above identifies the current version. Material changes will be presented in a reasonable way before they take effect when required by law.
