Ming / Privacy
Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Ming collects, why it is used, how it is protected, and how you can delete it.
Information We Collect
When you sign in, Ming receives account information such as your name, email address, and account identifier from Apple or Google. Ming also stores the learning information you create or generate in the app, including saved cards, notes, lesson and Block progress, review history, daily activity, and preferences. This information is linked to your Ming account so progress can sync across devices.
How We Use Information
Ming uses account and learning information only to authenticate you, provide and restore your account, sync progress, schedule reviews, remember settings, secure the service, respond to support requests, and maintain app reliability. Ming does not use this information for advertising or sell it.
Storage and Retention
Learning data is stored on your device and in Google Firebase while your Ming account remains active so it can sync across devices. Ming keeps account-backed data only for as long as needed to provide the account and learning service, meet security obligations, resolve disputes, or comply with law. Service-provider backups and security logs may remain for a limited period under their protected retention schedules before deletion or de-identification.
Purchases
Apple processes Ming purchases and payment information. Ming uses StoreKit on your device to check whether your Apple Account owns Ming Full Course. Ming does not receive or store your payment-card details, and purchase access is not stored in your user-writable progress backup.
Diagnostics and Tracking
Ming contains no advertising trackers and does not run third-party advertising or behavioral analytics. Apple may provide basic crash or performance diagnostics under your device and App Store privacy choices. Ming does not link learning data with data from other companies for advertising or track you across apps or websites.
Service Providers
Ming uses Apple for Sign in with Apple, StoreKit, app distribution, and optional platform diagnostics, and uses Google services for Google Sign-In, Firebase Authentication, and Firestore progress sync. These providers process information only to deliver those services under their own privacy terms. Ming requires service providers that access Ming data to protect it consistently with this policy and applicable privacy law and not use it for unrelated purposes.
Your Choices and Consent
You can change preferences, reset learning progress, sign out, or delete your Ming account in Settings. You may also revoke Ming’s Apple or Google sign-in authorization from the privacy and security controls for that provider.
Revoking sign-in access does not itself delete data already stored by Ming; use Delete Account in Ming or contact support to request deletion. Deleting the app removes its local data from that device but does not delete account-backed data.
Account and Data Deletion
Delete Account removes your synced cards, notes, progress, review history, preferences, Firebase user record, and Firebase Authentication account, then clears the local learning data on that device.
After deletion, Ming retains only a one-way security code derived from the former internal account identifier and a deletion timestamp. It contains no name, email, learning content, progress, preferences, or purchase data and is used solely to stop stale authorization from recreating a deleted account. It cannot restore the account. Deleting a Ming account does not cancel or erase a purchase held by Apple.
Privacy Requests
For access, correction, deletion, or other privacy questions, email support@hongliangsun.com or visit Ming Support. Ming may need to verify that the request comes from the account owner before acting on it.
